After a tricky leak hunting / finding exercise we're back in the water. We've upgraded the antenna system with a waterproof SMA bulkhead connector. This will make antenna testing and modification much easier.
The previous design had the water-blocked coax penetrating the drybox bulkhead through a gland. This required the antenna to remain mated to the HF Voyager payload at all times. Now, with the new bulkhead connector, we can separate them. This makes maintenance and experimentation much easier while removing the leak path of a coax penetration.
Please give HFV a call anytime. We will start a few miles offshore today and expect to move 20 to 30 miles offshore in the coming week.
